French Language & Lifestyle Programme
France
Dates: Year round
Description:
'Language and Lifestyle' is a 25-hour French programme which will help you both to improve your language skills and allow you to discover and enjoy various aspects of French culture and way of life with the help of teachers and group leaders (all native French speakers). Each day has a particular 'theme' such as the cinema, the press, food and drink, painting, music and song. One afternoon is devoted to finding out about the historic city of Montpellier with a guided visit and a discovery questionnaire. The mornings are usually classroom-based. Working together with fellow students you undertake a varied range of real-life tasks, language activities and project work with a teacher to guide and facilitate the learning process. This is followed in the afternoon by a theme-linked visit or activity. The week ends with a language workshop, for example in the form of a question and answer session and a relaxing and fun afternoon of board games (play Montpellier Monopoly for example!) or French music and song. This course caters for all language levels from elementary to advanced. With its emphasis on functional language and real-life tasks, you will gain in confidence and improve fluency, learning at your own pace with language input and guidance from your peer group, teachers and group leaders.
Highlights:
Our local French hosts provide you with a private room, breakfast and evening dinner. Most families are situated within 15 minutes travel from the school, either a pleasant and safe walk or a short ride on a bus or on the new tramway. Montpellier is small town (200,000 population) with excellent public transport. The historic Old Town and the town centre are pedestrianised.
