Italian & Cultural Immersion Programs Across Italy
Italy
Dates: Start dates every Monday, all year round.
Description:
Established 1990 the school is in an excellent location in the center of Milan in a well known street, in the commercial area, Corso Buenos Aires, close to the Lima underground station. It is housed in a beautiful art nouveau 3 storey building with a small garden to the back and is walking distance to cafes, shops, banks, bars, etc. The school has a maximum capacity of about: 280 students per month and students come from around the world: 40% from Asia, 38% from Europe, 15% from North & South America, 7% from the rest of the world. The average age of students is around 23 -24 years of age. The school offers a casual environment with the following facilities: 18 nicely decorated and bright classrooms, computer room, cafeteria and terrace. There is an Internet point just out of the school and our students have special prices, gym and sports facilities are closeby. The school is authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education to teach Italian language and culture to international students. Our programs cater for all language levels from absolute beginners to the more advanced, include the use of course materials and provide a variety of options to enhance your program. There are 9 available levels from absolute beginners to proficiency. Each student will be expected to take a short placement test on the first Monday morning of the course (unless a complete beginner), to determine the students language level and ensure placement in the correct class. Lessons are usually held in the mornings, starting at 9 am, which leave the afternoons free for social or cultural activities, trips, workshops, short excursions or free time to relax or explore on your own. All our programs have been carefully structured with the aim of teaching the language to our students and giving them the confidence they need in different situations.
Highlights:
Milan, the capital of Lombardy is situated on the flat plains of the Po Valley and is Italy's second largest and richest city. Wealthy and cosmopolitan, the Milanesi enjoy a reputation as successful businesspeople, equally at home overseas and in Italy. Better known for being new and fashionable, Milan has never willingly thrown out the old. Three times in its history the city had to rebuild after conquest by foreign invaders. The city's layout is best understood as a historic nucleus around the Cathedral, from which a star-shaped axis of arteries spreads through modern suburbs to the ring road. The modern civic center lies to the northwest, around Mussolini's central station, and is dominated by the Pirelli skyscraper, which, dating back to 1956, is one of the first skyscrapers in Italy. The trade and fashion fairs take place in the Fiera district, west of the nucleus around the Porta Genova station. The city center has many good museums and a particularly good selection of world-class art exhibitions and individual pieces.
