Description:
Founded in 1982, this program is designed for beginning through advanced students. Located at the Beijing Institute of Education (BIE), CET Beijing is uniquely positioned to provide students with excellent language instruction in China's political, cultural, and historical center and the home to "standard" Chinese. CET students are the only Americans on the campus, and CET's is the only program in Beijing that allows students the opportunity to live with Chinese roommates from local universities. The program includes a minimum 20 class hours of Chinese language instruction per week. Average class size is eight students with lower enrollments in the upper levels and oral courses. Note that in addition to enrolling in the fall, spring and/or summer terms, students may also elect to participate in CET's January Term in Beijing. This is an intensive four week program for intermediate and advanced students of Chinese language. The program prepares students for continued study in China and is designed to make maximum use of Beijing's rich linguistic environment, with intensive classes and structured outings that contextualize students' language skills.
