Kangaroo Island Farmstay Adventure
Australia
- South Australia:
Kingscote
Dates: any time throughout the year
Description:
We accept students from five years old, if accompanied by a parent or guardian, up to any age. Often you will be the only student, although we accept a maximum of four. KIELFA is a family-centred learning experience. As a student or Farmstay guest you will live in our home as a part of our household and family. This means you can get extra help with learning English at any time. Learning is activity based. While you are engaged in the activities that interest you and are learning a range of life-skills, you will be also practising your listening and speaking skills and learning new vocabulary. There is also time for sit-down learning and study so that you can improve your English reading and writing skills. Kangaroo Island is one of South Australia's most popular tourist destinations, yet it is unpolluted and unspoiled. It has magnificent beaches and coastal scenery, peaceful countryside and plentiful wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, possums, echidnas and seals. In springtime the bush is a mass of wildflowers.
Highlights:
A program is worked out to suit you, and depends on your needs and interests. You can concentrate on everyday conversational skills, business English, or your own special requirements to improve your English skills in a particular field of employment or study. You will be helped to greatly expand your vocabulary, with grammar and sentence construction, reading and writing, listening and speaking. You will be living in an English-speaking environment, and hearing and communicating in English all the time. I will do all I can help you, so if you concentrate on learning you can expect to improve your English skills quickly. You will also learn about the Australian culture, lifestyle and the natural environment. You can choose activities such as simple cooking, handmaking bread and cakes, preserves and other everyday foods; craftwork from natural materials; go on hikes and picnics in the countryside or along the coastline while you study; join in with local social events; help on the farm and learn some simple farm and sustainable living skills. This is an enjoyable and easy way to improve your English while you learn and enjoy a whole range of living skills. Or you can ask to spend your lesson time in head-down study with your private teacher (me!) to make fast academic progress in learning English. Best of all is a combination of both activity-based and head-down study to achieve a happy learning outcome which is stress-free and relaxed.
