Description: You will be amazed at how quickly you pick up the language in our individual classes. Our encouraging and experienced teachers are experts in helping you develop your confidence and skills in using the language. They have years of experience teaching Spanish to persons of different nationalities and ages.
We design your course according to your learning style, special interests and needs (not everyone learns a language in the same way!) All levels available-from absolute beginners to very advanced and can be for any length of time.

CLASS HOURS: You decide! From 3 to 6 hours per day

ACCOMMODATIONS
We can arrange any type of accommodations for you before your arrival as Quito has a wide range of hotels and hostels. Another option that is an excellent complement to your course is a homestay with a welcoming Ecuadorian host family affiliated with EIL who will treat you as family member, pick you up at the airport, and provide you with a private room and three meals a day. Our families are carefully selected and enjoy sharing with students from around the world.

Highlights: Once a week during your course you and your teacher will visit places of interest in Quito where you will practice your Spanish in spontaneous situations. Some of these places may be museums, street markets, and Quito's spectacular colonial churches inlayed with Incan gold. Before the excursion you will prepare for this activity in class.

Talks on different aspects of Ecuadorian life and culture once a week with other students, special activities such as learning to dance to Ecuadorian and other Latin American rhythms, celebrating traditional holidays, preparing typical Ecuador food once a week.

METHODOLOGY:
We have a holistic approach to teaching Spanish within a pleasant and democratic atmosphere of respect for our students' individual and cultural values. Our mission is to enable you to acquire the language skills necessary to communicate effectively in Spanish and to gain insight into the Ecuadorian realities, many of which are common to other countries of Latin America. The integration of language and culture in your classes enhances your language learning experience because learning becomes interactive and meaningful.

Ecuador is a country of many cultures: the indigenous cultures of the Andes and the Amazon, the mestizo culture of Andean cities and towns, the cultures of port cities, fishing and farming villages along Ecuador's Pacific coast. While you are learning Spanish individually in class, and participating in class related activities with our teachers and other students, you will discover, discuss and enjoy Ecuador's rich and colorful cultures. Videos, role plays, excursions, discussion of current issues and the country's history and arts adjusted to your level will complement and stimulate your language study. Other activities, such as learning to dance to Ecuadorian and Latin American music and talks on different aspects of Ecuadorian life enliven your understanding of Spanish and the host culture.

Grammar becomes a tool that helps you understand how different components of the language interweave. It is not an end in itself but rather the base on which you build the communication that enables you to participate in Ecuadorian life and culture. In your individual classes, you will acquire fluency by applying Spanish structures and vocabulary in practical situations. And, of course, you will learn the local slang and sayings that add a rich flavor to our Ecuadorian Spanish.
