Description: Gain confidence in the use of English through British Council's English course in Singapore. British Council offers one of the best English language programme in Singapore.

In the course, you will develop grammatical accuracy, expand your vocabulary, pick up accurate pronunciation, intonation and rhythm to strengthen your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and also prepare you for other courses conducted in English. British Council's teachers are highly qualified and experienced expatriate native speakers.

Entry Level Placement Test

If you are in Singapore: Take the placement test in Singapore and have an interview with a teacher in Singapore. Based on the placement test, you will be recommended the entry level that is suitable for you. Based on your placement test, you will be recommended a starting point for you. This may be at the start of a module or at a suitable point within the module.

If you are not in Singapore: Take a provisional placement test in your home country if you are overseas. You will then take a confirmation test and have an interview with a teacher in Singapore. Based on your placement test, you will be recommended a starting point for you. This may be at the start of a module or at a suitable point within the module.

The Elementary Module consists of:
- Elementary I
- Elementary II

During the 8 weeks you will:
- Start speaking and pronouncing English correctly.
- Learn and use a lot of everyday vocabulary.
- Learn basic English grammar.
- Learn to read simple English texts and understand them.
- Improve your understanding of English spoken by native speakers.
- Learn to write simple sentences and short texts in correct English.
- Become more confident in using English to meet your basic survival needs.

The Elementary Module prepares you for the internationally recognised KET examination, IELTS target level 3.0.

The Foundation Module consists of:
- Pre-Intermediate I & II
- Intermediate I & II

During the 24 weeks, you will:
- Develop your fluency and accuracy in English and give simple presentations.
- Learn and use a wide range of vocabulary for daily communication.
- Learn and use tenses and other more complex grammatical structures.
- Read and discuss simple newspaper and magazine articles.
- Improve your understanding of English spoken by native speakers and learn to take simple notes.
- Learn how to write descriptive, narrative and discursive texts and be able to correct most of your mistakes.
- Become confident about using English in a wide range of everyday situations.

This Foundation Module prepares you for the internationally recognized PET examination, IELTS target level 4.0 4.5.

The Academic Module consists of:
- Upper-Intermediate
- English For Academic Purposes

During the 20 weeks, you will:
- Develop effective study and research skills.
- Learn to make clear presentations and take part in discussions.
- Take better lecture notes and learn to organize them well.
- Learn to organize your ideas in writing, interpret data, and write reports.
- Expand your general knowledge so that you have more ideas and discussion points for assignments.
- Become confident in using English correctly and appropriately in speaking and writing.
- Be able to analyse and correct your mistakes.
- Use a wide range of tenses and grammatical structures correctly.
- Use vocabulary appropriate to most work, study and daily contexts.
- Be able to deal with unexpected situations in English.
- Understand English spoken by native speakers in daily and study situations.
- Speak clearly with good pronunciation.

This Academic Module prepare you for the internationally recognised IELTS examination, target level 5.0 - 5.5.
