Description:
School of Ukrainian Language & Culture would like to invite you to our seventh Summer Program in the Cultural Capital of Ukraine Lviv. Our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs. You can enjoy leisure time at various venues including theaters, opera, circus and concert halls and music bars. The city restaurants offer both the Old Ukrainian culinary and the new trends, which come both from the West and the East. Our city is an open-air museum combining the best of the Western and Eastern influences. It is a stunning place to learn the language and is filled with unlimited cultural treasures.
Highlights:
Our programs cater for all language levels from absolute beginners to the more advanced, include the use of course materials and provide a variety of options to enhance your program. Beginners must start on set start dates and have at least the knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet. Each student will be expected to take a short placement test on the first Monday morning of the course (unless a complete beginner), to determine the students' language level and ensure placement in the correct class. Teachers are native speakers, university educated with years of teaching experience of Ukrainian as a foreign language. They will help enhance your speaking, listening, grammar and general comprehension skills. A key element of the program is our staff or tutors who live in the dormitory, eat with the students and are always available. Open to students from any accredited U.S. college or university who have completed three years of college-level Russian (or equivalent) and/or intermediate Ukrainian language, and who have demonstrated interest in current social science and humanistic topics. The program is targeted at graduate students in area studies, but undergraduates who have the appropriate academic profile may also be eligible.
