Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world. The IES Madrid Summer program enrolls approximately forty students and is designed for students who want to learn Spanish or improve their existing language skills while experiencing Spanish culture first-hand. Field study plays a central role in the IES summer program in Madrid. By combining course work with study outside the classroom, students have the opportunity to improve their Spanish languages skills while discovering the rich heritage of Spain through its art, theater, film, and walking tours of historic Old Madrid.
Highlights:
* Intensive Spanish language option for beginners. * IES courses in Art History, History, Literature, and Language for students with prior study in Spanish. * Weekly viewing of Spanish films and guest appearances by a selected director and actors. * Field trips to the Basque country to visit the Guggenheim Museum, and to Cuenca, a World Heritage site. * IES housing arranged in Spanish homes.
