Description: SIAL Yemen has developed a philosophy of teaching that puts emphasis on incorporating as many different types of learning media, methods, and materials as possible into the instruction.

As such, in addition to textbooks and course materials, students are encouraged to work with the multimedia software, audiotapes, videotapes, newscasts, newspapers and literature available at our institute. We feel that this method not only facilitates individual advancement in the Arabic language, but also ensures that students enjoy the learning process.

We believe that language learning should foster communication, and that the goal of learning a foreign language should be the ability to communicate effectively in that language. Students have the opportunity to develop their linguistic skills through group discussions, lectures, presentations, peer interaction, and day-to-day conversations with their Yemeni hosts. We believe that practicing a language is critical to acquiring it. Therefore, we encourage our students to speak only Arabic inside the Institute and to do their best to practice speaking Arabic with Yemenis outside the Institute every day.

Highlights: Classrooms
All classrooms are equipped with standard classroom equipment. Two classrooms also contain TV and video equipment for the use of students and teachers during class time. You can find more info on our sialyemen website.

Library
The library is well-equipped with hundreds of books, videos, and audiotapes. Students can check out library materials and use them to help with their classroom projects and study. Students may also check out Arabic videos that facilitate their learning.

Video Room
Students may use the Institute's video and audio room to watch beneficial videos of their choice, news, or daily television. This gives the student alternative ways of learning outside of the classroom.

Computer Room
The Institute provides all students with access to computers in the designated computer room. Students can access the Internet and check email for a nominal fee, write papers, or use interactive multimedia Arabic software that teaches reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.

Cost in US$: from $300

SIAL offers full-term and half-term summer programs. Each 6-week full term course is designed to cover the equivalent of one university semester of Arabic. There is a one-week break in between each full term. Students can also enroll in any of our 3-week half term courses. There are no scheduled breaks in between half terms.

Students can either choose to stay in the student houses or opt for a different housing option. For the total cost, add the visa fee and rent, both optional, to the tuition.
