International Summer School - University of Oslo
Norway
Term: Summer
Dates: June 26 - August 6, 2010
Description:
Every summer the ISS brings together some 600 students from more than 90 different countries to live and study at the University of Oslo in an atmosphere of academic achievement and international good will. The ISS offers a wide range of undergraduate (bachelor) courses, focusing on Norwegian language and various aspects of Norwegian culture and society, as well as a number of graduate (master) courses dealing with topics of broad international interest. All of the courses are taught in English, except for the Norwegian language courses. Courses are based on active student participation, and many of them include field visits. Participants attend daily classes and seminars, take examinations and/or submit assignments, and receive a University of Oslo transcript. Studying and living along with fellow students from all over the world contributes to a unique cultural experience. The gathering of many nationalities from East and West, North and South in the amicable, constructive atmosphere of a small North European country provides a stimulating intellectual environment which establishes a foundation for deeper understanding and confidence between people from different backgrounds.
Highlights:
The ISS offers a wide range of cultural and social activities and events, including folklore evenings, film seminars, debate meetings, sports, and extensive excursion programs to sights in Oslo and the mountains and fjords of rural Norway.
