Unique Study Abroad Adventures in Costa Rica
Costa Rica
- Central Pacific Coast:
Jaco
Dates: Year round
Description:
Learn a new language while learning to surf or perfecting your photographic skills in the tropical rainforests and on the stunning coast lines of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is rich in biodiversity and culture and offers travelers some of the greatest opportunities to experience pura vida, or pure life. We have several programs available throughout the year in Costa Rica. You can learn Spanish, learn to surf, or perfect your art and photography skills. Students are able to take one or two courses during a one, two, or four week stay at the School. Most students combine Surf and Spanish for four weeks, but there are endless possibilities like: Surf & Photography for one week, Spanish & Photography for two weeks. We want to offer students and travelers the opportunity to experience the very most while visiting Costa Rica. Accommodations are located on campus in shared or private rooms which all have AC and private baths. There are common areas, a pool, and a full kitchen available. If you prefer you may stay with a host family to be fully immersed in the Latin culture and practice your Spanish (breakfast and dinner is included in the home stay). Accommodations, courses, and field trips are all included in the program price. * Spanish - Learn Latin Spanish from local instructors to enhance your knowledge of vocabulary, conversation, and grammar. Credit is available for an additional cost. * Surfing - No matter what your surfing level (have never surfed or a seasoned pro) our instructors will find the best waves for you to surf. The Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica offers a variety of breaks in tropical warm waters. * Art & Photography - If you have always wanted to learn how to advance in your photography or build on your artistic skills, just imagine having tropical rainforests and the Pacific Ocean as your subject. Professional instructors will take you through lighting, composition, and finishing techniques. You will be in class Monday to Friday which allows for ample time to visit other areas in Costa Rica like Manuel Antonio National Park, Tamarindo, Arenal Volcano or Monteverde Rainforest.
Highlights:
* Learning Spanish from local instructors * Learning to Surf in the warm tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean * Learning to take photographs that will stun your friends and family * Taking part in several field trips like a sea kayaking, waterfall hike, and crocodile tours (tours depend on length of stay) * Travel to other popular areas in Costa Rica during your weekends off * Experiencing some of the most stunning scenery and friendly people in the world

It is our goal to create a global knowledge regarding culture, community, conservation, and stewardship for our future leaders and scholars. We are committed to the principles of sustainable tourism which includes education about the importance of our protected areas and wild lands, embracing the local community and culture of these areas, and treading lightly while we do so.
