Description:
The English Language Center (ELC) is a credit-based, academic ESL program. Students admitted to the ELC are fully admissible to their majors. When their English proficiency is achieved, students transfer to major courses without reapplying to the university. Another advantage of the ELC over most language schools it that the credits students earn can be used as elective credits in the majors. Thus, the time one spends learning English language counts toward graduation. The program is small and very friendly. All the teachers and staff know the students on a first-name basis. Teachers provide lots of personal help in every area of students' academic and personal life. ELC provides an ideal environment for learning English in a dynamic city famous for entertainment and outdoor activities. The ELC provides lots of opportunities for group activities including hiking, sports, and the arts. Come and be a part of this exciting, young environment. Most students enter an academic major after completing their language proficiency. They typically graduate in three years and spend one year doing practical training before returning to their home countries. Many students take advantage of the affordable cost of summer term, thus allowing them to complete their degrees in a timely way. UNLV offers 2nd bachelors degree program in virtually every major. These programs can typically be completed in under two years. UNLV has been recognized by US News & World Report as one of the best values among national universities.
