Study Abroad and Arabic Language Learning

Dates: all year round Sreptember-July

Description: Language learning -Arabic, Fus'ha and Darija- is for both individuals and groups all year round depending on availability of courses. Study Abroad programs may include language component, especially Arabic, Standard Arabic and/or Moroccan Dialect, but also Berber language (Tamazight). Language learning could vary from regular courses (3 hours per week) to intensive courses (3 hours per day) to extra intensive courses (4 hours per day) for a duration of one month to three months to a semester/year programs.

Study Abroad through sending institutions only for both High School and Colleges. Study Abroad vary form short term programs (3 to 4 weeks) with different schools and departments mainly in US schools and colleges to summer programs (4 to 8 weeks), and semester long programs for College students. Our main partners are the School for International Training, Experiment for International Living, Boston University, Wellesley College, City College of New York, Humboldt State University, Williams College.

Internships' possibilities through partners' institutions only, such as International Internships and Volunteer Network and Internships and Service Learning Wellesley College.

Adventure and travel abroad for elderly and young people through organized trips with partners organizations. We organize travels either as part of the Study Abroad programs or as cultural and educational trips to adults. Our main partners are Elderhostel and Road Scholars. We also organize programs to alumni of several schools and institutions such as Smith alumni, Stanford alumni, Wellesley alumni, Rollins alumni, Harvard alumni.

Highlights: Adventure travel programs highlights are:
- Learning from the people either through homestay within Moroccan families, or organized group discussions with Moroccan students, university professors, civil servants and artists
- Visiting and living in remote areas in Morocco, non-touristy areas
- Experiential learning is a tool that is used by CCCL in all programs; learning by doing and learning through feeling
- Becoming part of the community a participant is staying in through immersion, language tips and the inside perspective given through a deep and intensive orientation by cross-cultural specialists and experts.

Degree Level: Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate)

Qualifications: Participants to CCCL programs need to be respectful of host country's regulations and customs and open to learn in a different environment, flexible to be intellectually and physically challenged and eager to share with the others, be it peers in the program or people met throughout stay in Morocco.
Group programs with partners institutions only and individual programs accept adults only, unless permission is signed by a parent.
Volunteer programs are organized in collaboration with Thaqafat Moroccan association located in Rabat in favor of 18 and older for a duration of no more than 3 months within a Moroccan Non Governmental Organization both in rural and urban areas throughout Morocco. Different fields covered: environment, education, women issues, children, disabilities, basic health issues...
Internships are either withing CCCL and Thaqafat or other educational, cultural and non-governmental organizations, for a period varying from 1 to 2 months. Internships are very selective and sending organizations will have to pay CCCL for services. Interns will be able to aquire certain skills such as leadership skills, organizational skills, teaching and living in a multicultural environment.

Center for Cross Cultural Learning (CCCL)'s Mission Statement: The CCCL is a Moroccan private institution (SARL). The Center organizes a variety of cultural and educational activities which include language courses, seminars and lecture series on Moroccan society and Arab and Islamic cultures. The CCCL also sponsors art exhibits and musical performances and organizes educational excursions to various parts of Morocco. The aim of these activities is to provide participants with opportunities to learn from the rich cultural diversity of Morocco and to better understand and appreciate the country's cultural heritage. CCCL promotes better understanding between people of the world through Study Abroad programs, Volunteer work, language learning, training in Intercultural Learning, teaching, leading, non-formal education, Human Rights Education and youth participation. Our goal is to enhance mutual respect and acceptance of the other with no discrimination and through empowerment. Our motto is: "we are all equally smart and equally stupid, so let's listen to each others and learn from each other how to overcome our weaknesses and support one another with our strengths."
