Description: The Technological University of Bolivar, through Open Access Language Center, created the Program "Hispanic and Multicultural Cartagena: Course of Spanish Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Level, with the aim of propagating the Spanish language, the Hispanic culture and the Colombian pacific experiences through geography, culture, and cartagenera rhetoric to create spaces of interchange and dialogue with people of other nationalities.

Our Program offers an approach balanced, directed towards the components communicative and cultural of the City of Cartagena and has been designed pedagogically considering tendencies selected at academic level with a flexible format so that each student can grow according to his level of learning.

The course is divided in a structural section, a conversational and communicative section and another section dedicated to aspects of sociocultural nature. Of this form, a student of a language that is not speaking native of the Spanish language, will be able to acquire it from three angles, that is to say, three perspective that simultaneously offer freedom to him to adapt to new topics.

This program covers, besides the previous thing, aspects of the speech, listens to, stylistic and reading that culturally in the Colombian North Coast has shades different from the followed ones by speaking from the English language, French and German, among others.

The Basic Level is divided in 12 lessons. With some lessons of review that include a great number of exercises that evaluate the degree of mental receptivity in the process of learning of the student. The lessons begin with a conversation that entails to the immediate communication of the speaking foreigner, presenting/displaying interrogative which they help to fortify the main linguistic ability, the speech. The other abilities will be developed with the exercises of listening and reading. The writing is emphasized in the section of the grammar approach.

The Intermediate Level deals with eight communicative subjects in combination of the structural thing, that will give the opportunity him to the student to realise a transition between exercises controlled of the basic level towards exercises and semi free comunicativas activities. In this level, to the student the opportunity will occur to sustain ideas for the first time him, to write short tests and to interact most frequently in Spanish with speaking native of the Spanish.

The Advanced Level has been designed to participate in debates, panels, round tables, interviews, and presentations generally. The students in this level must sustain their written ideas orally, presented/displayed in tests to be accustomed to the discursivo and rhetorical stylistic system of the Spanish in different contexts.

The course, generally, walks to the student by more important the historical and tourist sites of Cartagena de Indias.

Highlights: Institutional Experience in the Spanish Education

The Castilian Spanish or comes positioning as one second language in many countries from English speech, that have seen the necessity to strengthen the commercial and cultural bonds with Latin America and Spain. This tendency is relatively new and has caused in university institutions of recognized trajectory its interest to offer courses of Spanish to foreigners.

The Technological University of Bolivar, for 5 years, throughout offers an intensive course of Spanish for foreigners during its School of Summer and weekly courses the year that have had great welcome not only by their academic quality but by cultural integration which they propose.

Our courses are based on a curriculum that Integra the linguistic learning and the cultural interchange, locates which us in an outstanding place in the area of education of Spanish to foreigners in Colombia.

Besides having experience in the work of the education of the Spanish, also we have a group of professors who have worked in England, the United States and Colombia teaching Spanish in schools of languages Romance, linguistic, modern languages, etc. They, besides teaching in the Open Access Language Center, also they have designed three texts of Spanish for foreign students with the purpose of to offer an efficient and coherent service the needs of the students.

All the previous one does an institution to us with experience in education to students of diverse international surroundings, with educational preparations and materials designed for communicative contexts.

Agreement - The British Council

From year 2005 and with the collaboration of The British Council, more than 30 young students of the United Kingdom they have gotten at Cartagena de Indias to perfect its knowledge and comunicativas abilities in Spanish, in an interesting and successful cultural interchange.

This course is developed within the framework in the month of July of the School of Summer of the Technological University of Bolivar.
