This area coordinates activities of the international students who participate in our home office. The general objective is to facilitate the introduction, location and orientation of international students with the goal of integrating them into the rhythm of university life, the city and country. UVM, through the means of the OIIE's Mobility area, offers international students modes of reciprocal and direct exchange- the opportunity to participate in the following OIIE-UVM programs of study: * Study Programs with Fixed Schedules - Semester / Year Programs - Short Term Programs: Winter & Summer - Trimester Programs - Quarter Programs * Study Programs with Non Fixed Schedules - Intensive Spanish & Chilean Culture Programs of 4, 5, 6, 8 weeks throughout the year. (Intended for students aged between 16 and 18 years old) * Volunteer and Internship Programs
Highlights:
The UNIVERSITY OF VIÑA DEL MAR is located in the metropolitan area that ia composed of the cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. This metropolitan area is the second largest urban center in Chile, with an approximate population of 600,000. Founded November 21, 1988, the University of Viña del Mar (UVM) is a private institution of higher education and part of the selected Chilean universities that have been accredited by the Chile Ministry of Education, which certifies the quality of higher education institutions and assures the completion of optimal academic standards. The University of Viña del Mar has a modern campus located in the higher part of the city and has characteristics and dimensions similar to some of the most important higher education centers in Europe and North America. The UNIVERSIDAD DE VIÑA DEL MAR through the INTERNATIONAL OFFICE OIIE-UVM offers a wide range of study programs for undergraduate students. As an official DELE (Spanish as a second language diploma) examination center, international students can participate in traditional programs such as semester and year-long study programs as well as summer and winter short term programs. UVM also offers nontraditional programs such as short term specialized programs and GAP programs. Along with these programs, the International Office at the University of Viña del Mar has four centers where students can take specialized courses. Intensive Spanish courses for nonnative Spanish students are given through the Center for Spanish as a Second Language. The Center for Business Studies offers Global Business courses taught in English. Ethnic studies can be taken at the Center for Contemporary Latin American Studies and Research. Students interested in gaining an international experience can participate in international internships through the Center for Global Workforce Development.
