Centro Tinku

Highlights: Located at the tropic of Capricorn, and stretching from the Pacific coast to the Amazonian forest and the Andes Mountains, Peru is one of the places on the planet with the greatest natural diversity: its many ecological zones boast thousands of species of plants and animals. But it is also one of the countries in the world with the richest cultural heritage, having produced an array of highly developed cultures, the most famous of which being the Incas, builders of Machu Picchu.

Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, later lived under Spanish colonial rule for 300 years. Its streets and buildings betray this dual heritage. Nowadays, the Quechua Indians, descendents of the Incas, can be found in and around Cusco, where they practice many crafts and techniques inherited from their ancestors.

Centro Tinku is located in the heart of the Andean city of Cusco at 3,450 m (11, 300 ft) above sea level. Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, later lived under Spanish colonial rule for 300 years. Its streets and buildings betray this dual heritage.
