Global Education at Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS) YCIS offers a unique richness and diversity of both Eastern and Western cultures that equips students to be bilingual, competitive, appreciative, caring and globally-minded individuals. Students are provided with the education to become global leaders of the 21st century. The YCIS Secondary School serves students from Year 7 to Year 13. We have a strong commitment to academic excellence as well as positive character formation and personal development. Our school prides itself on preparing and equipping our students for an ever-changing world. Secondary Chinese Program: Our unique international curriculum incorporates Chinese Language Studies as a required component. All of our students graduate in Chinese and English and are awarded with a Yew Chung Bi-lingual Diploma. The language of instruction is English, with non-native Chinese Speakers entering the school accommodated with Chinese Language support. Years 7-9: The Lower Secondary, Years 7 to 9, is equivalent to the Key Stage 3 in the National Curriculum for England. These are important years to prepare our students academically for the increasing challenges of the Upper Secondary years to follow. Years 10-11: The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the world's most popular international qualifications designed for 14 to 16 year olds. It aims to prepare students for further academic success and is recognized as evidence of ability by academic institutions and employers worldwide. Pupils take between seven to nine IGCSE subjects. Year 12-13: The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program is an intensive two-year pre-university course designed to provide students with exposure to the humanities and science. The program comprises of six subjects chosen from the following groupings: language, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics and arts. One of the greatest benefits of the IB Diploma Program is to develop well-rounded students and expose them to various subject areas both in breadth and depth. A strong performance in the IB Program will enhance a student's chance of gaining access to the worlds most prestigious universities.
