Description: Among Guatemala's natural wonders are the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, untouched tropical jungles, majestic volcanoes, and remarkable mountain lakes. The diversity of nature, combined with impressive colonial cities, Mayan ruins, and the warmth of its people, makes this country an outstanding place to participate in a Spanish immersion program.

Located just 4 blocks from the Plaza Central, Casa de Lenguas, our school in Antigua occupies a traditional colonial-style house with a large courtyard and garden. Classes are held in 5 classrooms, as well as in and around the garden. There is also a video and meeting room for afternoon activities. As everything is very central in Antigua, the school is within easy walking distance to the home stays and all attractions.

We offer three programs in Guatemala: General Spanish Courses consisting of 20 lessons per week, with focus mostly on grammar and conversation; Intensive Spanish Courses consisting of 30 lessons per week; and One-on-One Classes offering a personalized method of teaching which is tailor-made for the specific needs of the student (20 private lessons a week).

Highlights: The school organizes a variety of activities each week, designed to allow participants to discover the culture of the country and allow them to practice their Spanish outside of class. The activities offered include a guided tour of Antigua, a visit to museums, local plantations, indigenous villages, Salsa lessons, fiestas, Spanish film nights, sports activities, etc. These activities can be free or involve a small supplement (entry fees, bus fare, etc.). The school also organizes weekend excursions, for example to Tikal, Chichicastenango, Atitla lake, Coban, Todos Santos, Honduras or Bélize.

Students are lodged in a private room in a host family. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during weekdays. The homes are usually a 10-20 minute walk to the school.
