Description: Originating as a language center for international students and tourists, Universidad Internacional (UI) was founded in 1980. Flourishing as a Spanish language center, it opened to a greater audience in 1997 as a university to allow Mexican and international students to pursue their undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Located in the southern part of the city, UI is in the heart of Cuernavaca. This makes it easy to walk into town for your lunch, visit museums, or engage in the many cultural activities available throughout the city during your studies. The university offers an excellent range of academic areas to study, as well as an abundance of extracurricular cultural activities. Among its excellent facilities are a currency exchange office, computer labs with high-speed internet access, and a well-maintained library.

Highlights: As a study abroad student at Universidad Internacional for the summer term, you will participate in one or both of UI's Intensive Spanish Language sessions which welcome students with all levels of Spanish. This program is taught through the university's innovative Center for Linguistic and Multicultural Studies.

Universidad Internacional's summer language school runs two sessions, both of which include four weeks of intensive Spanish language study worth 4 U.S. credits each. All levels of Spanish are encouraged; all classes taught in Spanish. Take one session or both. These are full immersion programs.

Classes run from Monday to Friday from 8a.m. to 2p.m. Each day includes three hours of Spanish classes, two hours of Latin American history and culture or grammar (beginners in Spanish will be required to take grammar), and one hour of cultural lectures or conversation. Students also have the opportunity to take additional enrichment classes in the afternoons at no extra cost.
