Haifa
Term: Summer
Dates: July 5 - 29 and Aug 3 -26
Description:
Haifa is Israel's third largest city and one of the most beautiful. The University of Haifa has a diverse student body, with a mixture of Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze, and Bedouin, a combination of new immigrants with native Israelis, and a blend of secular and religious. Over 17,300 students study at the University of Haifa, and close to 700 international students study in the programs of the International School each year. The campus is located at the edge of the city on Mount Carmel, which gives students an excellent opportunity to explore the city and use their acquired Hebrew skills. The Summer Ulpan brings together students from over 40 countries who immerse themselves in an intensive Hebrew language experience. Instruction is offered on all levels, from elementary to advanced. The Ulpan is divided into two independent four-week sessions. Each Ulpan session offers the full range of studies on all levels of proficiency. You may register for either or both of the sessions offered. Classes are held on Sunday through Thursday mornings (and occasionally on Fridays) for five academic hours per day. A variety of learning tools are used in the classroom, including work in the language laboratory, computer and video sessions, as well as guest lectures and interviews. You will be given a great deal of personal attention by our exceptional Ulpan staff. Each four-week Ulpan awards five academic credits.
