Tecun Uman is recognized by the Ministry of Education, INGUAT, and by Lonely Planet as a quality school. Tecun Uman offers full-immersion Spanish courses, with a student teacher ratio of 1:1. We offer a curriculum with 8 levels, from Initial to Superior. Our program focuses on all the important elements of language learning: writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary building, and reading. We use the latest resources from Spain. For college students interested in obtaining credits, we offer college credits through the Universidad Rural de Guatemala. Students can study between 4-8 hours per day, depending on their needs. Classes begin at 8am and go until 6pm, depending on the program desired. Our teachers are college graduates and have received their certificate in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. The average number of years experience teaching of our staff, is 15. We can also meet specific professional and educational needs of our students, focusing on their areas of interest and need.
Highlights:
Tecun Uman is in the center of Antigua, a World UNESCO Heritage Site. Our school offers host families and the possibility of living in a pension for those who prefer not to live with families. All the families are in close walking distance to the school. There are weekly movies produced in Spain and Latin America, free to our students. We offer cultural activities and excursions to other parts of Guatemala as a service to our students(for example: climb an active volcano, visit Mayan ruins, nature reserves, museums and churches). These are optional. We offer group classes to encourage interaction among our students.
